Best Robot Vacuum With Self Emptying Base
One of the most valuable features of a robot vacuum is the self-emptying base. This saves you from having to empty the bin manually after each cleaning.
This robot vacuum is budget-friendly and can clean just like many of the more expensive models. It makes use of random bumps and run navigation, though, so rogue cables or a loose sock can derail the clean.
iRobot Roomba j7+
The j7+ robotic vacuum is among the most intelligent vacuums we've tested. It has impressive features like advanced obstacle detection. It works with your Wi-Fi, letting you make a schedule for cleaning and block off areas of the home for certain times of day. It can also be linked to Alexa or Google Assistant so that you can use voice commands to begin, stopping, or changing your schedule. Its navigation system is very precise, which means it doesn't ping-pong around walls and furniture like cheaper models. It can detect objects in your home, including pet waste, power cables and shoes, and will avoid them if it sees them.
It can also identify different flooring types and adjust its head's height to collect dirt more effectively. It struggles to climb onto carpets with high piles, but it is a great tool for getting rid of pet hair and other debris from bare floors.
In our testing the j7+ performed for approximately 85 minutes before having to dock and recharge. When it does, the robot returns to where it started off and finishes its cleaning job. The battery's lifespan isn't the longest we've seen in robots, but it's an impressive run. Once it's back to full charge the j7+ will automatically resumes its mapping and cleaning job.
The iRobot App makes it easy to add floor plans and rooms and create a cleaning schedule. Clean Base is a premium design, featuring an elongated bin and a leather pull tab that gives it a refined feel. The iRobot App includes videos that provide instructions and video tutorials on specific parts of the machine that require regular maintenance. It also has a maintenance tab that provides information about each part of the machine.
Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision
Miele has a reputation for quality and its latest robot vacuum certainly lives up to expectations. With a user-friendly app, remote control and voice integrations such as Alexa The Scout RX3 Home Vision is an excellent choice for people seeking to automate their cleaning. The two cameras integrated in the front of the machine allow it to create an accurate map of your home that allows it to avoid obstacles and ensure all areas are cleaned. This helps it to clean under furniture and other difficult to reach places. In addition to its 3D intelligent navigation, it also has effective obstacle avoidance, meaning that it won't be stuck and will not push small or light objects like socks or toys.
In addition to these smart features, it's easy to empty the dust canister that can be done with the press of the app. The top of the canister pops open to reveal a handle, making it easy to remove and empty into a bin. Miele also comes with two carpet side brushes, one with six arms to scrub hard floors and the other with 20 arms to clean high-pile carpets. They can be used with the vacuum cleaner to clean corners.
Like other robots in its class like the Scout RX3 Home Vision is capable of scheduling cleaning times for specific dates and areas. The Scout RX3 Home Vision is able to be controlled using a mobile application, but also remotely using a remote control or voice commands. In terms of runtime, the Miele can clean up to 60 minutes, which is less than other models like the Ultenic T10 and Roborock S6 MaxV, yet it provides excellent cleaning performance.
Shark IQ Robot Vacuum
Shark IQ is a budget robot vacuum that has a lot of features. It has a large bin that can hold up to 30 days of debris and its navigation system is among the most efficient on the market. It has physical boundaries to prevent it from snooping around in areas you don't want it to. It can also be controlled by voice commands with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The companion app lets you view the robot's current status, receive push notifications, pause and resume cleaning sessions, create schedules and more.
The process of setting up is quick and simple with a helpful female voice guiding you through the steps. Once connected to WiFi, you'll be able to use the Shark app to monitor each clean cycle and see an image of your home's layout (though it only stores maps for one floor). You can also change the names of rooms with the mapping feature. Its battery life is excellent In 'Max' mode, it can keep going for around an hour and it recharges much faster than other robots we have tested.
If you do not have a WiFi connection, the top-side of the robot includes two buttons that allow you to control it manually. You can use them to begin or stop a cleaning process or to stop or resume charging and then manually send it back to the dock. The Shark IQ can also be activated using voice commands via your Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device. It is equipped with a built-in detection sensor and mapping technology that creates the floor plan of your home, and is controlled via your phone or via voice control using Alexa or Google Assistant. Eufy 11s
The Eufy 11s doesn't require an app to be downloaded and it does not need Wi-Fi to function. It's powered instead by its rechargeable batteries and the remote. This makes it a great option for those who prefer to set a daily cleaning schedule through the remote instead of a smartphone or who want a robot vacuum that isn't connected to internet and is able to work offline. However, the 11s's absence of connectivity also means you can't check on its progress or get an alert when it's stuffed with dirt.
In our tests, we found that the 11s did a fantastic job of scooting underneath furniture and removing larger particles, like dry oats. But it struggled with fine dust on a carpet, and its sensors were not always able to detect the edges of the floor. The 11s was still simple to use and didn't face any major issues with stairs or raised floorboards. It also has a solid battery life of 100 minutes which is enough for most single-room jobs.
The RoboVac 11s from eufy's main selling aspect is the fact that it provides excellent performance for the money. It is quiet and does an excellent cleaning job on low-pile, medium-pile and even unfinished floors. The only downsides are that it is a bit difficult to maneuver and a lack of automation features such as boundary markers or voice control. For this reason, we recommend upgrading to the more powerful BoostIQ RoboVac 11s if interested in these features. It's better-built, has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on charge, and comes with superior navigation and mapping capabilities. It also handles pet hair better and has greater suction power.
